The Olea Europaea or European Olive Tree are perfect as an ornamental, evergreen tree, it can be left natural or pruned to keep it within its space limits. They instantly bring a piece of the Mediterranean to your garden and have been grown in the Mediterranean for centuries for oil and fruit production.
The Olive Tree has become increasingly popular in the UK as it can tolerate temperatures down to -15 degrees whilst also being very wind resistant. If you would like to obtain fruit, a sunny spot will provide better results.
Caring for an Olive Tree is easy, but remember they are fruit trees so they will need regular watering and feeding, but avoid water-logging.
These versions are smooth-trunked, although each specimen may have individual characteristics and may not be completely smooth all over.
A Tuscan Olive tree refers to the shape not the cultivar of the olive tree. Tuscan pruned trees are the practice of pruning a tree into a certain shape. Significantly in this instance an olive tree with a wide open crown or open heart.
